Steven Sebring (b. 1966) is an American photographer, director and self-proclaimed ‘photoscient’. Always passionate about the still and moving image Sebring began his career in fashion photography, and it was in 1995 that Spin Magazine commissioned Sebring to photograph the singer-songwriter Patti Smith. This encounter would culminate in Sebring filming Patti Smith over 11 years, resulting in the documentary Dream of Life (2008) - a directorial debut that earned him a Sundance Award for Excellence in Cinematography and a Primetime Emmy nomination. A vanguard in artistic 3-D imaging, Sebring developed his unique 360-degree camera system, the SRS, to pioneer multi-dimensional photography and film. An important myriad of visual applications which include 3D virtual and augmented reality as seen in the  photographic series Revelation (1999), Illumination (2010), Metamorphosis  (2012), Dali (2013) and Nude Descending Stairs (2013), as exhibited at the three-day multimedia installation at the 69th Regiment Armory titled Revolution. An impressive tribute to Marcel Duchamp and Eadward Muybridge, both of whom Sebring counts as important influences.
