About Barbedienne

Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) was a prominent French furniture and decorative arts designer, as well as a highly skilled bronze caster. He is best known for his contributions to the revival of bronze sculpture and the production of exquisite furniture pieces during the 19th century.

Born on August 10, 1810, in Saint-Martin-de-Fresnay, France, Barbedienne initially trained as an engineer before discovering his passion for art and design. In 1838, he established his own foundry in Paris, which quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality bronze works.
