About Paul Frankl

Paul Frankl (1886-1958) was an influential American furniture and decorative arts designer. He is best known for his innovative designs that bridged the gap between modernism and Art Deco styles.

Born in Vienna, Austria in 1886, Frankl showed an early interest in art and design. He studied architecture at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and later worked as an apprentice in an architectural firm. In 1914, he immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City.

In the early 1920s, Frankl began experimenting with furniture design and quickly gained recognition for his unique approach. He embraced the principles of modernism and incorporated geometric shapes, clean lines, and functionality into his designs. His work reflected the changing tastes and
