About Maurice Dufrene

Maurice Dufrene (1876-1955) was a prominent French furniture designer and decorative artist. He was born on December 15, 1876, in Paris, France. Dufrene played a significant role in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, leaving an indelible mark on the world of furniture and decorative arts.

Dufrene began his career as an apprentice in his father's furniture workshop, where he gained valuable experience and developed a deep understanding of craftsmanship. He later studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he honed his skills in drawing and design.

In the early 20th century, Dufrene became associated with the renowned French furniture company, La Maison Moderne. He quickly rose through the ranks and eventually became the artistic director of the
