About Nattier

Jean-Marc Nattier (1685-1766) was a French painter known for his exquisite portraits and decorative art designs. Born on March 17, 1685, in Paris, France, Nattier displayed a remarkable talent for painting from a young age.

Nattier received his artistic training under his father, Marc Nattier, a portrait painter himself. He further honed his skills at the prestigious Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in Paris, where he studied under renowned artists such as François Lemoyne and Nicolas de Largillierre.

Early in his career, Nattier primarily focused on portraiture, gaining recognition for his ability to capture the likeness and personality of his subjects. His portraits often featured members of the French aristocracy, including royalty and nobility.
