He was born on September 26, 1859, in Toul, France, into a family of craftsmen. His father, Auguste Majorelle, was a successful furniture designer and manufacturer. Majorelle received his education at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, where he studied architecture and fine arts. During his time at the school, he developed a deep appreciation for nature and its organic forms, which would later become a prominent feature in his design aesthetic. In 1879, after completing his studies, Majorelle joined his father's furniture workshop. He quickly became involved in the design process and began experimenting with new techniques and materials. His innovative approach to furniture design soon gained attention, and his creations started to garner recognition for their exquisite craftsmanship and intricate detailing. Majorelle's breakthrough came in the late 1880s when he embraced the Art Nouveau style, which was characterized by its emphasis on natural forms and flowing lines. He incorporated these elements into his furniture designs, creating pieces that were not only functional but also visually striking. His use of exotic woods, such as mahogany and ebony, further added to the allure of his creations. In 1898, Majorelle took over his father's workshop and renamed it "Maison Majorelle." Under his leadership, the workshop flourished, becoming one of the most prominent furniture manufacturers in Nancy. The success of Maison Majorelle was also attributed to the collaboration between Majorelle and other talented artists and craftsmen, such as Émile Gallé and Eugène Vallin. Majorelle's designs were not limited to furniture alone. He also created decorative objects, including lamps, vases, and textiles, which displayed his exceptional skills as a decorative artist. His attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship made his creations highly sought after by collectors and patrons of the arts. Apart from his commercial success, Majorelle was also actively involved in promoting the Art Nouveau movement. He participated in various international exhibitions, including the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900, where his works received critical acclaim. Majorelle's contributions to the movement helped establish Art Nouveau as a significant design style of the time. Following the decline of the Art Nouveau movement in the early 20th
