About Bruno Mathsson

Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) was a Swedish furniture and decorative arts designer, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Scandinavian design history. He was born on January 13, 1907, in Värnamo, Sweden.

Mathsson came from a family of furniture makers, and he developed a passion for design from an early age. He began his career by working in his father's furniture workshop, where he gained valuable experience and honed his skills.

In the 1930s, Mathsson started experimenting with modernist and functionalist design principles, which were gaining popularity at the time. He was particularly drawn to the ideas of simplicity, functionality, and ergonomics. This led him to create his iconic "Grasshopper" chair in 1931, which featured a curved wooden
