About Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo (1930-1971) was an Italian industrial designer and architect who made significant contributions to the field of furniture and decorative arts. He is best known for his innovative and futuristic designs, which were characterized by their functionality, versatility, and unconventional use of materials.

Born as Cesare Colombo in Milan, Italy in 1930, he later adopted the name "Joe" to appeal to an international audience. Colombo studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where he developed a keen interest in design and architecture. After completing his studies, he began working as an architect, but soon shifted his focus towards industrial design.

In the 1960s, Colombo emerged as a prominent figure in the Italian design scene. He founded
