Italo Scanga (August 20, 1932 – November 1, 2001) was an Italian-American artist known for his contributions to the fields of sculpture, painting, and printmaking. Born in Lago, Calabria, Italy, Scanga immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of twelve. Scanga's artistic journey began in the 1950s when he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and later at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. During this period, he explored various artistic mediums, including ceramics and painting, developing a unique style that combined elements of abstraction, symbolism, and personal narrative.
